A New Addition to the Spider-Verse
Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is officially joining the next Spider-Man film alongside Tom Holland, sources confirm. The upcoming installment, produced by Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, is set to begin filming later this year.
Marvel’s Silence and Casting Speculation
Neither Marvel nor Sony have commented on Sink’s role, but speculation is already swirling. The leading theory suggests she may portray Jean Grey, introducing the X-Men to the MCU. However, given her red hair, she could also step into the shoes of a classic Spider-Man character. Regardless of her role, it’s expected to be a major one, especially considering how Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Peter Parker wiping his existence from the world.
Shifting Cast Dynamics
With the previous film’s conclusion, familiar faces from past Spider-Man movies are likely to have reduced screen time, making way for new additions—Sink being the first big-name casting.
Production Timeline
Director Destin Daniel Cretton will helm the project, with Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige producing. Holland is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and will begin shooting Spider-Man once he wraps that project.
Sink’s Busy Year Ahead
This role marks a significant milestone for Sink as she transitions beyond her breakout role in Stranger Things, which recently wrapped filming its final season, set to premiere later this year.
Before stepping into the Spider-Man universe, Sink will appear in the Searchlight musical O’Dessa (premiering next week on Hulu) and star in the Broadway play John Proctor Is the Villain, which opens on April 4.
With Spider-Man gearing up for production, all eyes are on Sink as she prepares to swing into the MCU.
